It carries out and supports teaching, research and extension activities in the area of ​​Food Microbiology. It develops microbiological analyses using conventional and molecular methods for the detection and immunization of pathogenic microorganisms and contamination indicators, with the aim of ensuring the safety and microbiological quality of food. It is also the headquarters of the Extension Group in Water and Food Microbiology (Gema²), which seeks to contribute to the training of students and serve the community through extension courses and microbiological analysis services for water and food.
